  • what is college football recruiting like for a top prospect?

Question by : what is college football recruiting like for a top prospect?
say the athlete is ranked in the top 10 nationally for HS football players. can anyone give me an example of what the recruiting process is like for the throughout their HS career, preferably starting with their freshman year?

    thank you!

    Best answer:

    Answer by S-Ironman
Unless your some kind of freak ( look up Sony Michel ) your recruiting doesn’t start until your junior and senior years. You might have scouts talk to before that, but nothing serious. During your junior and senior years, the way it works at my school is the coaches will announce the scholarship offers in front of the team, and talk to them about it, our school gets a lot of scholarships though ( Highest I saw was like 19 10 to d1, the lowest was 8 2-3 to d 1) so they don’t make a big deal out of it, except for bragging rights, if your rated number in the top ten in the nation though, you can expect it to get pretty crazy, and a lot of illegal benefits to be offered. Look up Marcus Dupree, or the pony express

  • 2012 Wagner College Football Recruiting Class

Wagner College head football coach Walt Hameline has announced that 10 student-athletes have elected to continue their education while pursuing a football career with the Seahawks. Additional student-athletes will be announced at a later date as they become cleared for release through the athletic department’s compliance office. “We’re excited about our newest Seahawks,” said Wagner Head Coach/Athletic Director Walt Hameline. “With this recruiting class, I am confident that we addressed many of our needs. I think this class is solid in all areas and academically it’s a very sound group. I applaud my assistant coaches for their hard work and dedication in helping us recruit a group of quality young men who I am confident will represent Wagner very well both on and off the playing field.” Wagner College 2012 Football Recruiting Class Name CL POS HT WT Hometown/HS (Head Coach) Matt Barnett Fr. College programs still have 11 months to lock-in their 2013 class, but with some top prospects already committing, early returns point to a handful of schools emerging with the best recruiting classes. No surprise that perennial recruiting powerhouses Michigan, Ohio State, Texas, Georgia and Alabama constitute the top-five recruiting classes at this point in the race, but, all for different reasons. By way of example, Michigan has already landed the services of two top offensive line prospects in Patrick Kugler (Wexford, PA) and Chris Fox (Parker, CO), giving the Wolverines a major upgrade up front into the future. Meanwhile, Urban Meyer is scooping up athletes on all sides of the ball. He’s landed a pair of elite defensive backs in Cam Burrows (Trotwood, OH) and Eli Woodard (Voorhees, NJ). Yet, the Buckeyes biggest prize to this point is Jalin Marshall (Middletown, OH), who could line up at running back, quarterback or receiver in college. As for Texas, Georgia and Alabama, Fox Sport’s Brandon Huffman gives Full Ride the rundown. Full Ride is Bleacher Report’s weekly college football recruiting show that pulls back the curtain to give you the hottest news, analysis, interviews and highlights. • Flagrant foul no-calls Highland @ Connell 12/22/11

These fouls discussed on CNN: www.cnn.com ***PLEASE READ BELOW: Discussed on ESPN Radio. www.youtube.com (discussed at 2;50 and 34;28) Since the release of this video, the Washington Officials Association (WOA), the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) and the Connell School District have all done their best to sweep this situation under the rug. The WOA has defended the referees (and their non-calls) in this game. The Connell Athletic Director has publicly supported the actions of his players and coaches. The Connell head coach supports the actions of his players…while the WIAA has done nothing to enforce any sort of punishment for anyone involved. This has been a massive failure on everyone’s part and makes it clear that they find these actions acceptable in high school basketball. I receive daily messages from people all over the world who are outraged by this video. The following are ACTUAL quotes: “It’s getting painted as flagrant or intentional fouls. There were no problems and no fights” —Dave Pierce, a 30-year veteran of the Tri-Cities (Washington) Sports Officials Association “My feeling is I bet you could go to 90% of any sporting event that has contact like basketball, football, whatever. You could probably go through any person’s game film and pull these same or similar incidents out. This just happened to be a person did that and posted it online” –Steve Frucci, Connell High School Athletic Director sfrucci@nfsd.org “He’s a tough kid

    Google Realtime:
    www.google.com/realtime/
    OR
    www.google.com/landing/realtime/

I tend to assume that folks hear about most of the new things Google
brings out, but maybe I shouldn’t make that assumption. Today someone
on Twitter was telling someone else how to figure out what cool things
they had Twittered last month. Twitter search doesn’t go back that
far. You can try searching in Google, and it may or may not decide to
actually show you something useful. Even if you now it exists, that
doesn’t mean Google will show it to you! Now, me, I have all kinds of
sneaky searching tricks, but when it comes to tracking down old
Tweets, that takes special tricks. Searching in regular Google isn’t
    likely to do it.

Google Realtime has been out for over a year, so it isn’t
particularly new, but it is quite useful. I am accustomed to using it
on a regular basis and just didn’t think about, well, telling other
folk! My apologies. What can you do with it? A LOT. But first, the
limitations. When it first came out, I misunderstood and thought
Google Realtime searched all the main social media sites – Twitter,
Facebook statuses, Flickr pics, Youtube videos, blogs, etc. Um, no. I
mean, well, it says it does! It says, "Realtime Search lets you see
up-to-the-second social updates, news articles and blog posts about
hot topics around the world." But really, when I use it, it is mostly
    just Twitter results.

The obvious use is when you want to know what’s going on or being said
right now. Breaking news, hot topics, international crises, sports,
etc. Big buzz here today is the situation with University of Michigan
football coaches. Is he fired or isn’t he? Are they hiring someone new
or aren’t they? Who are they trying to recruit? Who won’t come? Who
might? Who is playing things coy? Buzz, buzz, buzz. It just keeps
scrolling. Heck, you can even make an email alert if you want to be
constantly updated on a really critical topic.

Google Realtime does a fair job with this sort of current events
question, but it can do a lot more. Tracking a hashtag? Check
theTimeline (frequency display in the upper right hand corner) to
find what time of day it peaks. Use the arrows to scroll back a couple
days and find out which day the tag is most used. This is especially
useful if you want to join a formal Twitter chat and aren’t sure when
it is scheduled. In the example screenshot, I show the #hcsm chat,
which has a constant low level buzz all week, and then skyrockets on
Sunday evenings when the formal chat is scheduled. Vavoom! It really
shows in the metrics of Google Realtime.

What about refinding something you ought to remember? That tweet you
sent last month, or the date and time the Dundee tornado hit? Here it
is January, and I could scroll back to last June, focus in on the
specific day, and even a particular time of day, all through using the
    Timeline.
